Read slowly enough to ask what the passage reveals about God, what it exposes in you, and what needs to change today instead of rushing through Scripture while waiting for a random sentence to feel dramatic. If you want a less confused life, become a more grounded listener.
Begin with what God has already spoken
People often ask how to hear God's voice while overlooking the clearest place God has already chosen to speak: Scripture. Reading the Bible this way is not about turning every verse into a private prediction. It is about learning God's character, commands, promises, priorities, and wisdom well enough that your inner life becomes shaped by what he has actually said.
Slow reading helps. Ask what the passage meant in context before asking what it means for you. Notice what it reveals about God, humanity, sin, grace, wisdom, and obedience. Then ask where your life is resisting that truth. The more familiar you become with Scripture, the easier it becomes to recognize when an impression, desire, or piece of advice contradicts God's revealed character and teaching.
